There are lots of area activities to enjoy including the Lion's Club Rodeo the 2nd week of May held in Jasper, pageants, and fall festivals in every county. Don't miss exploring the many parks and forests with your camera or perhaps a list of geocaching spots and head out for an adventure with your GPS. While in Jasper be sure to stop in and check out the many antique shops and flea markets. The friendly folks at the Jasper Chamber will help you with a wide variety of maps and brochures.
History buffs can explore old cemeteries, museums, plantations, ranches and a wide variety of points of interest in East Texas or Western Louisiana. The opportunities are limited only by your imagination. If you are heading North stop in for a great cookie and coffee at the cookie factory in San Augustine, and visit the old time square. Continue on north to Center , Texas, and visit the old time county courthouse that is now a muserm, offering lots of history. On highway 96 , turn west and travel two miles on Highway 21 out of San Augustine and visit the Old Stagecoarch Inn. Highway 21 is the Old Spanish Trail connecting the oldest town in Texas , Nacogdoches. Traveling west from Brookeland, visit the old time square of Woodville, lots of quaint shops and the courthouse is over 100 years old. Also a nice visit to Broadus, will have a good catfish resturant and orpy house for your pleasure. Be sure to venture to Jasper and eat at the Belle Jim Hotel and Guest House, Catfish Cabin, Casa Ole, and Cedar Tree Restruant. Jasper has a Super Walmart Center,and so does Center, Texas , so plan a shopping trip for all your needs!
